Presentify: from a lockdown idea to a Mac favorite

Ram PatraFounder
Presentify launched on April 20, 2020, during the first months of the global shift to remote work.
The idea was simple: make it easy to draw anywhere on a Mac screen while presenting, teaching, recording a tutorial, or talking through something on a video call. Presentify also made the cursor easier to follow, helping an audience stay focused on what mattered.
A launch shaped by its users
The day after launch, we shared Presentify on Hacker News. The post reached 232 points and 92 comments.
More valuable than the numbers was the conversation. People bought the app, tested it in real presentations, and suggested features such as undo, drawing shapes, better Apple Pencil workflows, and fading annotations. That feedback helped shape Presentify from its earliest days.
Presentify launched on Product Hunt on April 22 and received another warm welcome from the product community.
Recognition from Apple
Since launch, Apple has featured Presentify three times:
Presentify has also repeatedly ranked near the top of the Mac App Store Productivity charts. What began as a focused tool for screen annotation has become part of the everyday workflow of teachers, developers, creators, trainers, and presenters around the world.
Still improving
Presentify has grown considerably since version one, but its purpose has stayed the same: help people explain ideas more clearly.
That focus continues to guide every feature and update. We listen closely, remove friction where we find it, and try to keep a capable app feeling simple.
